POSITION TITLE:  Kirksville Learning Center Instructor
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:
*Valid Missouri teaching certificate in one of the four core areas; Math, English, Science and/or History
*Three years teaching experience
*Prior experience in an alternative educational setting is preferred
*Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the
  essential functions of the position
 
REPORTS TO:  Kirksville Learning Center Director and/or Kirksville High School Administration
 
CONTRACT DAYS WORKED: 9 Months
 
JOB GOAL:  To provide instruction for and partner in the development and implementation of
                        the Kirksville Learning Center
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
*Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.
*Implements and monitors intervention programs for all students.
*Demonstrate effective and positive interpersonal relationships with staff, students, and the
  community and the ability to work as a productive and solid member of the school district.
*Find appropriate materials/supplies to assist in student learning.
*Sets program goals and aid preparation of a semi-annual program evaluation.
*Develop and maintain an efficient and consistent process for student applications to the center,
  as well as conducting interviews with prospective students.
*Initiates, designs, implements programs to meet and enhance specific school/student needs.
*Aide in development, implementation, and monitoring of a system of accountability around
  student performance.
*Establish guidelines for proper student conduct, maintains student discipline logs, and
  communicates discipline with school administration and Superintendent.
*Provide occasional supervision of In-School Suspension program students
 
Terms of Employment:  Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board of Education.
 
Evaluation:  Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the
                              provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
 
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Other duties as assigned.  This does not preclude the assignment of additional or supplemental
   duties.  The District reserves the right to modify the assignment as needed to reflect such duties. 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
* Duties performed typically in district settings to include the cafeteria, gym, recreational areas
   and other assigned areas.
* Physical demands can include but are not limited to:  Exerts up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally,
   and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
   including equipment such as audio-visual.
* Frequent walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling,
   reaching, and other limited physical activities are required.
* Mental demands can include but are not limited to:  Comparing, copying, computing,
   compiling, analyzing, coordinating, and synthesizing.
