JOB TITLE:  Elementary Teacher Intern
 
JOB DESCRIPTION:
 
Elementary Teacher Interns in our District are high energy, passionate about the growth and development of our students and engage in culturally responsive behaviors to ensure academic, health and wellness needs are met for all students. They provide support to the assigned classroom and/or building to provide instruction and supervision on an individual student basis or in groups.
 
REPORTS TO:
 
Principal
 
Successful candidates will have, at a minimum:
  • Missouri Elementary Certification, e.g., 1-6, K-6, or K-8, B-3, or eligible for DESE certification. Missouri Substitute Certificate required.
  • Teaching experience or equivalent in an urban environment
  • Superior interpersonal relationship skills
 
This highly effective and AMAZING Intern will: 
  • Provide support to the classroom teacher and assist with teaching the District curriculum as outlined in the curriculum documents.
  • Demonstrate appropriate long and short term preparation for classroom instruction and assist with the preparation of materials that support the student’s learning.
  • Use a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to assist the classroom teacher in maximizing the learning of each child, individually and in group settings.
  • Assist with the assessment of student progress and use the results to adjust instruction as needed.
  • Assist with the management of discipline in accordance with administrative regulations, school board policies, and legal requirements.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining a functional, attractive, orderly, and safe classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and builds a sense of community.
  • Follow the policies and procedures of the school district in support of the team, building, and district goals.
  • Keep abreast of current developments and pursue professional growth through attendance at school/district professional development activities.
  • Assume responsibility for the effective functioning of the school to include necessary non-instructional assignments and student management throughout the entire building.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by supervising administrator(s)
