Job Summary
Under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor, performs custodial maintenance duties including, but not limited to, dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, assists in trash collection and disposal, manipulation of heavy equipment, furniture and objects, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms.

Essential Functions
  • Operates standard cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, buffers, and mops.
  • Gathers and transports trash from assigned areas to appropriate disposal location.
  • Cleans assigned areas by washing furnishings, windows, tile, fixtures, equipment and floors.  Vacuums, dusts and polishes specified areas and/or furnishings.
  • Sanitizes and disinfects bathroom areas.
  • Assists with the set-up and tear-down of campus-wide events to include lifting and moving tables and chairs, manually moving risers; and lifting, moving, and setting up/taking down other items required for the event.  Such equipment and items may often weigh up to 60 pounds.
  • Inspects physical condition of assigned areas and submits maintenance requests regarding needed repairs.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Follows workplace safety and environmental practices.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred and previously related experience.
  • Must have the ability to operate standard custodial equipment.
  • Essential functions require the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials weighing 20 to 60 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to stand over the course of an eight (8) hour shift.
  • Must have the ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding and to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. 
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment.
  • A criminal history and background check is required before employment may begin and must be successfully completed.
Other Information
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the School’s discretion.
  • Tasks are regularly performed with potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as strong odors, fumes, dusts, wetness, humidity, machinery, vibrations, temperature and noise extremes, disease, pathogenic substances and toxic/poisonous agents.
  • Occasional overtime is required.
