Bilingual Teacher Assistant

Qualifications:  Sixty credit hours preferred with related courses in education.  Knowledge of Arabic preferred but not required.

Position Summary:  The job of the Bilingual Teacher Assistant was established for the purpose(s) of working with individual and/or small groups of students under the supervision of a certificated teacher in the supervision and instruction of students; and assisting students by modeling the necessary skills to perform assignments.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:  Other duties may be assigned.
  • Instructs students at site(s) assigned.
  • Develops and delivers lesson plans appropriate to the needs and abilities of assigned students.
  • Uses a variety of instructional techniques and reading materials appropriate for the age and skill level of students.
  • Maintains thorough running records and anecdotal notes for assigned students.
  • Collects data to share with classroom teachers.
  • Participates in monthly professional development sessions.
  • Attend team meetings as required.
  • Provide input to teams regarding student academic strengths and weaknesses.
  • Provide the high quality instruction time needed to move students to grade level proficiency.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Director and/or principal.
