Job Description:
The Special Education Paraprofessional implements academic, behavioral, self-care, safety, and other individualized plans, as prescribed by the special education and general education teachers, in order to meet the needs of students.
 
Responsibilities of the Special Education Paraprofessional are as follows: 

• Implement teacher-created lessons for individuals or small groups.
• Escort students safely from place to place within the school setting.
• Assist students with mobility needs (may involve lifting, toileting, etc.)
• Assist with appropriate behavior intervention, as directed by teacher/supervisor.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student and family information with regards to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
• Aid in the administration of teacher, District, and state assessments.
• Implement student accommodations and modifications according to IEPs.
• Collect data on student progress as directed by the teacher.
• Collaborate with other staff members to meet the holistic needs of assigned students.

Reports to:  Director of Federal Programs

Skills & Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 60 hours of post-secondary coursework
• Excellent speaking, reading, writing and math skills (English).
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Clear Criminal Background/Fingerprint Check
• Valid TB Clearance.
