JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
  • Ensure that the family of each enrolled child is afforded the opportunity to develop and implement an individualized plan of service based on their interest and needs.
  • Serve as an advocate for Head Start families with the community and provide ongoing support.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Hold a minimum of a four (4) year degree
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work is preferred
  • Experience working with parents and young children
  • A solid understanding of the sensitivity to diverse families and cultures
  • An awareness and understanding of community services and referral process
  • The ability to be an integral part of a team
  • Ability and willingness to be very flexible and accepting non-routine tasks
  • Excellent recordkeeping skills
  • Capacity to drive to homes and community locations

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES:
 
  1. Operate as a liaison between the center and home setting in all functional areas while promoting family wellness and involvement through a case management process
  2. Coordinate ongoing community outreach to ensure recruitment and enrollment of eligible families with children ages 3-5 in the Head Start Program
  3. Make suggestions or recommendations to the Head Start Manager regarding recruitment and outreach opportunities
  4. Participate in events in the community to recruit age and income eligible families for Head Start; conduct follow-up with children on the waitlist; assist in enrolling families; monitor and enter daily attendance; review family files to ensure the accuracy and integrity of information and that proof of birth and income are scanned into ChildPlus; ensure that student health requirements are up to date and that health information is scanned into ChildPlus upon receipt
  5. Promote parent involvement at the center level and participate in IEP and IFSP
  6. Attend regular meetings at Head Start central office
  7. Classroom duties including serving lunch and relieving teachers as needed
  8. Maintain a commitment to professionalism, exhibiting independent and collaborative work skills
  9. Other responsibilities and tasks as determined by program administrator

WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS:
Office, community, family homes. Must have car to drive to homes, offices, and community locations.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Assigned to 5 day work calendar; 8 hours per day vary; compensation and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life) as provided by the Board of Education.
