St. Charles Community College is located just west of St. Louis, nestled in the heart of growing St. Charles County. Established in 1986, SCC is a public, comprehensive two-year community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs in the arts, business, sciences and career-technical fields. SCC also provides workforce training and community-based personal and professional development as well as cultural, recreational and entertainment opportunities.
Our Child Development Center seeks a full-time Assistant Teacher to assist and facilitate the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities that advance all areas of the children's development and learning including social, emotional, intellectual, and physical competency with consideration given to each child's individual needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Ensures that snacks and meals are nutritionally sound and are planned to meet CAFP requirements, posting a menu weekly.
  • Monitors indoor and outdoor space daily for health and safety concerns.
  • Establishes positive and collaborative relationships with family members to enhance parent communication and involvement with the center. 
  • Assists in the observation and recording of children's behavior in planning individualized teaching practices and curriculum. 
  • Maintains confidentiality in regard to observation and assessment information and records.
Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent required. Some college or professional training in child care or child development preferred. Two years previous experience working in child care/child development and/or working with pre-school age children preferred. Must meet DFS qualifications. Must be at least eighteen years of age.
