Job Description:
Orchard Farm School District is seeking a special education paraprofessional to join our team!  Our mission is to empower each learner to excel in diverse communities. Paraprofessionals provides social, physical, and academic support and/or supervision in general and special education settings, including but not limited to, the cafeteria, classrooms, recess, and assemblies. These services may include ambulatory, eating and toileting assistance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 60 credit hours from an accredited college/university or higher
  • Missouri Substitute Certificate (be able to obtain within 30 days of acceptance of offer)
  • Ability to relate to students, staff, and parents in a positive manner
  • Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form
  • Ability to follow written and oral communication 
  • Ability to problem solve
An individual who holds this position will:
  • Be part of a collaborative, caring team at Orchard Farm Elementary
  • Assist students with disabilities according to their individualized needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, or positioning
  • Assist students with physical care including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene
  • Assist in managing the behavior of students
  • Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
  • Maintain confidentiality of information about children and their families in accordance with Board policy and law
  • Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and special events when requested by administration
  • Help supervise arrival and departure of students, and provide supervision and support in multiple settings throughout the school day
  • Follow instructions from supervising teacher and administrators
