Job Description:
Reports To:  Head Coach/Activities Director
Education and Experience: 
  • 4-yr degree with Full Teacher Certification is preferred; 60 hours with Substitute Certification may be considered
  • Successful experience playing and/or coaching football is preferred
Essential Job Functions :
  1. Assesses player’s skills and gives input in assigning team positions.
  2. Follows a practice schedule, plans and coordinates drills,  and utilizes practice time to provide both individual, group, and team development.
  3. Supervise, coach and instruct student athletes individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, training and techniques of the sport.
  4. Observes players during games and practices to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
  5. Maintains standards of student behavior and provides proper supervision of athletes at all times.
  6. Encourages student athletes to maintain a high academic standard.
  7. Guide and mentor student-athletes in a positive manner.
  8. Record daily attendance of a specific group of athletes.
  9. Assist in summer activities.
  10. Willing to work nights and weekends.
  11. Ensure that adequate supervision is provided for all students involved in the program including locker rooms and buses
  12. Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
  13. Administers first aid when necessary.
  14. Respond to risk management/emergency situations and notify emergency responders when appropriate.
  15. Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their student.
  16. Follows MSHSAA and District regulations.
  17. Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the head coach.
  18. Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
  19. Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
  20. Immediately investigates complaints, responds to rule infractions, reports serious violations of school rules or suspicious or unauthorized activities to school administrators.
