Job Description:
The Soulard School is seeking a full-time Fifth grade and Second grade classroom teacher to join our current co-teacher at our elementary location for the 2019-2020 school year.
Major Responsibilities
  • Build curriculum based on student interests, student needs, and Missouri Learning Standards
  • Create units of study that are cross curricular
  • Develop lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year based on student needs and interests.
  • Create positive educational climate for students to learn in.
  • Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with families, as well as strong communication between home and school.
  • Attend school events as specified in teacher contract.
  • Develop positive relationships with colleagues and peers - we seek someone who can join and add to our already collaborative, innovative staff community
Education and Experience
  • A college degree in elementary education or early childhood education and at least one year of experience teaching experience in an elementary setting (public or nonpublic).
  •  Missouri State teacher certification in elementary education

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Warm and supportive attitude and disposition toward working with children and their families.
  • Comfortable outdoors and willing to do overnight camping with older students.
  • Reliable in attendance.
  • Willing to accept supervision in order to improve work performance.  
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills.  
  • Physically able to perform the job as a teacher of younger children.

General Pay and Contract Provisions
• 40 hour work week with hours between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm
