Position:                      Instructional Support and Technology Integration Specialist
Term:                         9 Months, plus 10 additional days
Location:                     Joplin High School
Classification:             Certified/Exempt
Reports To:                 High School Principal/Assistant Superintendent of Learning Services
 The Instructional Support and Technology Integration Specialist will coach and assist teachers in the district to enhance learning through improved instructional practices and the integration of technology in the classroom. The primary focus of the Instructional Support and Technology Integration Specialist is to enrich and support teaching and learning while strengthening the technology skills of teachers and staff for a 21st century school environment.  The Instructional Support and Technology Integration Specialist will train and assist classroom teachers in the incorporation of technological software into the lesson plan.They will work under the direction of the Building Principal and Assistant Superintendent of Learning Services and work collaboratively with the instructional technology support team as they support the school improvement efforts and build the technology instructional capacity of the teachers and administration.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree and certification in elementary education or certification as a secondary teacher.  A master’s degree in Education Technology, or related experience is preferred.
  • Valid, appropriate Missouri Teacher’s Certification.
Experience as a classroom teacher:
  • Minimum of five years of verifiable elementary, middle, or high school teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated teaching and leadership skills, written and oral communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of teaching techniques, curriculum and staff development.
  • An understanding of key learning theories and methods of instruction, and their relation to technology integration.
  • Experience with learning management systems with the ability to integrate instruction and technology to assist teachers.
  • Experience with assessment programs.
Ideal candidates should work well with others, be skilled in team management.
  • Have a background in instructional design.
  • Have clear goals and strategies for integrating technology into instruction.
  • Familiarity with methods for integrating technology into the curriculum, online resources, digital portfolios and other forms of assessment.
  • Experience with effective technology teaching strategies in teaching software skills.

Essential Functions:
An individual who holds this position is required to:
  • Work closely with classroom teacher in the development of lesson plans that encompass the use of technology
  • Coordinates all activities surrounding the professional technological development of administrative staff members and faculty related to technology integration and the use of learning management systems.
  • Utilizing computer software, including word processing, database, spreadsheet, web page development, presentation, digital video and other applications
  • Staying up to date on new instructional technologies and their use in the classroom and a willingness to continue to learn additional instructional technologies
  • Provide direct support to teachers, and observe, coaching and mentoring
  • Assist K-12 teachers with questions concerning the district learning management system and the student information system
