Job Description:
State Street Elementary and Chase Middle School were joined together in 2012 to form one of three signature pre-k to eighth-grade campuses in Topeka Public Schools. Through meticulous planning, a performing arts theme was chosen. When this dream became a reality, the schools’ focus was to include music, theatre, and dance in students’ everyday routines.

Through field trips, after-school programs, class lessons, and artist workshops, students learn what it means to be a performing artist and how to observe as an audience member. A big part of this program is to give back to the community by way of performance. The performing arts signature schools managed to create entire seasons of material performed by students, which are shared with the Topeka community. Ranging from original plays written by staff to well-known musical entities, students have a chance to audition, rehearse and perform in a wide variety of roles by the time they graduate from the performing arts signature campus.
