Job Description:
This individual will teach reading and/or writing across various elementary grades. Teaching responsibilities will include co-teaching with classroom teachers and/or teaching small groups of students. The individual hired for this position must be data driven and have demonstrated an ability to accelerate student learning, particularly for students who are currently below grade level. This position could be part or full time. All faculty at AFIA must:

  • Have a strong understanding of and ability to implement constructivism
  • Value the presence and the voice of students’ families as partners in the school

  • Be willing to grow in his/her ability to implement the arts throughout the curriculum
  • Plan and deliver differentiated instruction driven by continual student assessment and specific students’ needs
  • Collaborate with the art/music teachers and community partners to integrate arts across the curriculum
  • Engage in powerful, productive partnerships with families and students to ensure that instruction meets the needs of all students
  • Participate in continual, intensive job-embedded professional development
  • Teaching experience, specifically experience in accelerating student learning
