St. Charles Community College is located just west of St. Louis, nestled in the heart of growing St. Charles County. Established in 1986, SCC is a public, comprehensive two-year community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs in the arts, business, sciences and career-technical fields. SCC also provides workforce training and community-based personal and professional development as well as cultural, recreational and entertainment opportunities.
We invite qualified applicants to apply for the part-time, project-based position of Videographer. The Videographer will be responsible for creating professional quality videos for various instructional and training areas at St Charles Community College. These videos may include training, tutorials, online instruction, interviews, panels, departmental videos, and others as assigned. Videos will be produced for publication online, on social media, in the college's learning management system, and for internal use.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Creates high-quality HD videos with proper lighting and high-quality audio for training, tutorials, online instruction, interviews, panels, and departmental information.
  • Effectively uses editing software to deliver production ready video products.
  • Manages, organizes, and maintains audio, video, and lighting equipment. This includes inventorying equipment before and after shoots to make sure everything is returned to the OEL Department and is in good working order for the next shoot.
  • Makes recommendations on purchase of audio, video, lighting, and other equipment as needed for creating professional-quality videos.
  • Works with Director of Online Learning on projects to determine priority and timelines.
  • Works with other members of the Online and E-Learning team to coordinate design for videos to be published online and in LMS.
  • In addition to shooting for the video projects, the videographer will also setup for the shoot and tear down after.
  • Plans the shoot in conjunction with the producer (the trainer, faculty member, or other staff member initiating the video) and provide experienced consultation and recommendations.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills while interacting with clients, interviewees, and others involved in the shoot.
  • Manages time and projects to make sure deadlines are met and projects are completed. This requires strong time management skills, organization, and ability to multitask.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in film production, digital cinema production, or related degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2 or more years of experience preferred.
  • This position requires:
    • Proficient use of DSLR camera systems for both still photography and video
    • Proficient use of a variety of microphones and configurations for each environment to produce high-quality audio
    • Proficient use of lighting for indoor, outdoor, low light, and other environments to produce high-quality video
    • Creativity
    • Organization and ability to meet deadlines
    • Experience using green screen in video production
    • Experience with lighting, sound, and editing for video
    • Experience with video editing software (Adobe Premier Pro and/or Camtasia preferred)
    • Experience with photo editing software (Adobe Photoshop preferred)
    • Experience with audio editing software (Adobe Audition preferred)
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
