Job Description:
Summary:  Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and implements the operations and programs in a defined area under the direction of the Director, Special Education or Executive Director.
Job Responsibilities:
Instruction and Learning:
  1. Supervises, observes and evaluates the performance of staff members who report to this position.
  2. Screens, interviews and makes recommendations regarding employment.
  3. Works effectively with staff to use data in a timely manner to plan, supervise, evaluate and revise instructional programs to meet students’ needs. 
  4. Collaboratively plans and provides in-service programs for parents, staff and component district personnel. 
  5. Supervises, manages and/or makes recommendations for students’ individual education programs, evaluation/reevaluations and related services.
  6. Provides leadership in technical areas as designated.
Resource Utilization:
  1. Works collaboratively with directors and component district staff to implement procedures related to the Rolling Plan, CSIP, Partnership Plan, district goals and philosophies.
  2. Assists directors in developing and monitoring a budget for an assigned area. 
  3. Utilizes available staff development activities to improve self and others.
  4. Ensures instructional information materials and resources are readily available for staff and students and are appropriate to meet instructional needs.
  1. Meets with component district administrators, SSD administrators, parents, staff and students for problem solving and conflict resolution.
  2. Ensures responsive communication with students, families, staff and community agencies. 
  3. Provides effective leadership and collaboration within assigned partner districts and schools to enhance and support student achievement.
  4. Teams with SSD staff and administrators to implement effective practices and strong linkages throughout the district.
Education and/or Experience:
Master’s degree in special education and/or school administration.  Prior administrative/supervisory experience desired (early childhood special education preferred).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Special Education Administration Certification (or eligibility within three years of hire date); Missouri Teaching Certification in area of Special Education or Speech Pathology.
