Essential Job Functions:
Dean of Student Life:
  • Design, implement, and sustain a culture of high expectations, achievement, and support for and among all students
  • Collaborate with Leadership in development and implementation of the school’s discipline system and other structures necessary to promote student achievement and character development and to effect positive student behavior in the school
  • Maintain and follow policies and procedures outlined in the student handbook with regard to written warnings to parents, suspensions, and expulsions and make necessary changes on a yearly basis
  • Use discretion in the consistent implementation of the rules, always keeping the student’s and school’s well-being in mind
  • Supervise and monitor structures developed to serve as consequences for inappropriate behavior
  • Investigate and determine if a student is to be suspended or recommended for expulsion, ensuring the student is given ample opportunity to participate in the process
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with students, faculty, and parents/families to facilitate your work and create a culture of engagement, trust, and support
  • Monitor, record and report student conduct with regard to inappropriate behavior, absences and tardiness on a regular basis, communicating regularly with parents/families to share information, implement strategies and develop a supportive home-school relationship to facilitate behavior change
  • Maintain comprehensive files on each student requiring disciplinary action
  • Provide guidance to and professional development for teachers and staff in the implementation and monitoring of prescribed interventions for individual students
  • Coordinate new student and faculty orientation relating to the norms of conduct
Essential Job Functions:
Athletic Director:
  • Coordinates the 9-12 athletic program in collaboration with principals and coaches to ascertain programmatic needs on an annual basis, as well as prior to each season to insure consistency of program.
  • Initiates the recruitment and selection of coaches and makes employment recommendations to the building principal
  • Supervises and evaluates all coaches.
  • Schedules all athletic contests, issues contracts for the contest, and maintains the proper and necessary records.
  • Ensures officials are scheduled and contracts are issues for all contests. Maintains an active file of officials under contract and pays officials following the contact.
  • Arranges transportation for all away contests.
  • Supervises the preparation and verifies all athletic eligibility lists.
  • Supervises high school athletic contests and acts as the host to officials and visiting schools. Oversees the supervision of contest employees and volunteers who work the athletic contest. Arranges for personnel to supervise contests as needed.
  • Supervises athletic funds, prepares and administers a detailed operating budget for the athletic program and submits it to the building principal. Orders all equipment and maintains a current inventory of all athletic equipment.
  • Advises and ensures all coaches conform with MSHSAA, league policies and regulations and with state and federal laws. Attends league and district meetings. Ensures all coaches have successfully competed required in-service programs.
  • Supervises and is responsible of preparation for home contests.
  • Provides leadership for and serves as liaison to athletic booster groups and coordinates, with the coaches, the support group for specific athletic programs.

Education & Experience
  • Master’s degree preferred; Administrative certificate preferred; Missouri or Kansas teaching certificate preferred.
  • Experience in the area of high school discipline and intervention, and athletics.
  • 3-5 years of effective teaching and coaching in a secondary education setting.
  • Preferably, has successful experience working with students in an urban setting.
