Position Title:        Middle School Principal
Reports To:            Superintendent
Summary:  Directs an assigned district facility, supervises staff and is responsible for all activity in the building.
Job Responsibilities:
  1. Supervises the school’s education program.
  2. Monitors the implementation and observance of Board of Education policies and regulations by the school’s staff and students.
  3. Assists in the development, revisions, and evaluation of curriculum and course offerings.
  4. Supervises and evaluates all professional, administrative, and clerical non-professional personnel.
  5. Screening, training, assigning, and evaluation of the school’s professional staff.
  6. Implements the district’s safety and security policies in administering the school’s educational plan.
  7. Delegates and assigns responsibilities to subordinates.
  8. Prepares and organizes school schedules.
  9. Supervises student behavior with respect to individual rights and in keeping with positive behavior supports.
  10. Assists in the in-service orientation and training of teachers.
  11. Prepares and supervises the preparation of reports.
  12. Submits recommendations concerning the school’s administrative and instructional programs.
  13. Implements district policy on attendance, school health, discipline, and student transportation.
  14. Assists with the management and preparation of the school’s budget.
  15. Supervises the maintenance of official records.
  16. Participates in public relations programs and provides liaison with the community.
  17. Establishes and participates in official school conferences.
  18. Conducts meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.
  19. Communicates regularly with parents/guardians.
  20. Supervises the implementation of instruction; sponsors for student organization activities; library/media center; building maintenance; custodial, the building’s key and lock program; the assignment, repair and replacement of student locks and lockers; and the school’s security program for buildings, grounds and equipment.
  21. Works with the Director of Special Education to carry out the special services.
  22. Assists in the hiring of teachers and personnel.
  23. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
Masters’ degree in education.  Previous teaching experience and at least 5 years experience in education required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Principal Certification required. 
Terms of Employment:
Contract terms covering compensation, benefits, and working conditions are specified by the Board of Education’s policies, agreements and approvals.  This is a 12-month position.
