Job Description:
Summary:  Administrator-level leadership position responsible for the management of Special Education processes, programs and the supervision of staff.  Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and implements the operations and programs in a defined area under the direction of the Director of Special Education or Assistant Superintendent of Partner Districts or Associate Superintendent.  
Job Responsibilities:
Instruction and Learning:
  1. Supervises, observes and evaluates the performance of staff members who report to this position.
  2. Collaborates with partner districts in the screening, interviewing, and recommendation of teacher-level and paraprofessional staff.  
  3. Works effectively with staff to use data to plan, supervise, evaluate and revise instructional programs to meet students’ needs. 
  4. Collaboratively plans and provides in-service programs for parents/families/guardians, staff and partner district personnel. 
  5. Facilitates and supports ongoing professional learning of staff members through coaching and feedback.
  6. Provides leadership and direction to staff within area of supervision.
  7. Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development, keeps current with relevant literature and new research findings, and attends appropriate professional meetings and conferences.
  8. Responsible for the professional growth and evaluation of teacher-level staff.
Resource Utilization:
  1. Collaborates with Directors of Special Education and partner district staff to implement procedures related to the Comprehensive School Improvement (CSIP)/Rolling Plan, Assurance Document, Partnership Agreement, and the District’s vision, mission, core values and standards of excellence. 
  2. Assists Directors of Special Education in developing and monitoring a budget for an assigned area. 
  3. Ensures instructional information materials and resources are accessible for staff and appropriate to meet instructional needs.
Education and/or Experience:
Master’s degree in Special Education and/or school administration.  Prior administrator-level/supervisory experience desired (Special Education preferred).  Two years of Special Education teaching required.  Five years or more of Special Education teaching experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Special Education Administration Certification is required (or must obtain this certification within three years of hire date in this position).  Missouri Teaching Certification in the area of Special Education and/or Student Services Certification required.
