Job Description:
  Summary:  Assist the bus driver to maintain appropriate student behavior management and provide assistance to students in boarding, riding, and departing district buses.  Ability to effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner throughout the workday.
Job Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the bus driver in maintaining appropriate student behavior on the bus
  2. Assist young or disabled students in getting on and off the bus.
  3. Secure student’s adaptive equipment (i.e, wheelchairs, safety vests, etc.) for safe transportation.
  4. Assist students in evacuation procedures during emergencies and evacuation drills.
  5. Report student discipline problems to the proper authority.
  6. Provide written documentation of inappropriate student behavior to the designated school supervisor or transportation department office.
  7. Conduct trip inspections after each run to check for sleeping children, lost articles, vandalism and vehicle cleanliness.
  8. Collect and turn over to the building administrative office those personal items left on the bus by students
  9. Report undisciplined students to the proper authority and provide a written report of violations of the student code to the designated supervisor.
  10. Enforce regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
  11. Exercise responsible leadership when on out-of district school trips.
  12. Complete written reports of all operational incidents including accidents, vehicle operations and student behavior.

Vocational Preparation:   (Experience)
No experience required.
Education Preparation:   (Formal and Informal)
Requires the use of common sense understanding of detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; the handling of simple one or two step instructions in standardized situations with occasional or not variables; the use of add, subtract, multiply, and divide measurements; and reading, writing and conversing at a level commonly associated with a minimum of eighth grade level.
