Faculty, Upper School Computer Science
The Pembroke Hill School is looking for an individual with passion for computer science and technology to teach class offerings and develop a maker space. This person will be part of the Upper School faculty and the school’s technology team, supplying leadership, creativity, and energy in ways that elevate instruction within the division. The computer science teacher will guide the process of building curricula, teaching courses, and directing the development of a Innovator space.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Teach all levels of Computer Science; from introductory to advanced, including Introduction to Programming, and AP and Advanced Computer Science. These project- based coding courses may include a variety of languages, programming robots and other devices, or related topics (Current and past Computer Science courses have included AP Java, Beginning Java & Python, 3D Design, Computer Service Design, Robotics)
  • Develop a computer science curriculum which is fluid as advancements in technology change and challenges students to problem solve and collaborate.
  • Coordinate with math and science departments to develop ties among computer science and engineering.
  • Develop an Innovator space program that is a collaborative space for students to explore computer science, engineering, and robotics in all areas of programming and building.
  • Coach the Upper School Robotics team. Proven skills with preparing teams for and guiding them through FIRST robotics competitions would be a bonus.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three years classroom (or other relevant training/teaching) experience in computer science or a related field
  • Coding experience in multiple languages (Java, C++, Python, etc.)
  • Proficient in Maker Space equipment and software
  • Proficient in Adobe suite and Auto CAD software
  • Experience coaching Robotics preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees in relevant fields will also be taken into consideration.
