Job Title:             Assistant Principal
Reports To:         Principal
Contract Days:   12 months
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Masters’ in Education Administration.
  • Three years’ experience in education administration preferred.
  • Ability to pass extensive background check.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Self-starter with ability to handle multiple tasks and frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding staff and students.
  • Working knowledge of curriculum.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, vendors, regulatory agencies, and/or etc.
  • Ability to work with budgets.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to follow internal procedures to ensure internal controls are properly maintained.
  • Ability to prepare master schedule; work with student information system, PowerSchool.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with the principal to insure a safe and manageable facility.
  • Help the principal handle issues as they occur.
  • Observe and evaluate teaching staff.
  • Observe and evaluate and non-certified staff.
  • Oversee the ISS room and staff.
  • Communicate with principal, staff, parents/guardians regarding any major discipline issues and consequences.
    • Work with students dealing with discipline issues.
    • Refer to social worker when necessary.
    • Resolve problems between teachers and students, parents/guardians and teachers, and students and parents.
    • Process discipline paper work to include data entry in student information system.
    • Evaluate and follow up on discipline files of possible incoming students.
    • Prepare memos, discipline referrals, and other paper work for possible dance guests.
  • Create Saturday school lists and tickets as well as teacher assignments.
  • Collect and report tutorial hours before and after school.
  • Schedule transportation for field trips.
  • Regular and dependable attendance
 
 NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, parents, and the general public.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
 
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
 
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Directors policies.
