Summary
To enable each student, trough safe and efficient transportation, to take full advantage of the complete range of curricular and extracurricular activities offered by the district’s schools. 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Maintain a qualified staff of drivers who meet all state and district guidelines
  • Review all activities, communication operations and assignment of drivers to obtain optimum use of facilitates and equipment.
  • Approves and recommends extension of routes or changes in schedules to improve student transportation services.
  • Directs, trains and supervises maintenance check of tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment of the district’s fleet.
  • Oversees all fiscal responsibilities for the Transportation Department, including budgeting and payroll.
  • Reviews and/or investigates accident reports and take appropriate action
  • Acts as a district representative in public forums, such as Board meetings as needed by the superintendent.
  • Act as a liaison with parents for complaints and special requests.
  • Directs and participates in training of personnel and issues manuals, bulletins and technical guides to improve services and operational activities.  Instructs and trains new drives for CDL licenses.
  • Reviews transportation records and oversees State bus inspections.
  • Ensures staff adherence to safety rules.
  • Informs the Superintendent of any vehicle violations during/outside of work that results in a traffic ticket or many hinder the validity of a Transportation Department employee’s CDL/Driver’s License.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriating working relationship by actively communicating with staff.
  • Establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the student for whom bus drivers are responsible.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Attend workshops and observes other programs in the State to constantly improve district services.
  • Performs additional tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.
Supervisory Duties - Supervises transportation department personnel.Qualifications

Education/Experience/License
  • Associate’s Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two year college or technical degree; and a minimum of five years relevant management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CDL License with passenger and school bus endorsement  
 Technology
  • Computer knowledge including word processing software, spreadsheet software, development software and internet.  Additionally individuals will utilize standard office equipment including photocopiers, telephone systems, and scanners.
Personnel Management
  • Skilled at developing, motivating, and directing people as they work.

Salary Range
up to $75,000 DOE
