Dean of Student Support: 2016-2017 School Year
The Dean of Student Support (DOSS) at St. Louis College Preparatory Academy is a reporting to the Dean of Students, the DOSS will collaborate with the Dean of Students to promote a positive culture within St. Louis College Prep .  In partnership with the Dean of Students, the DOSS will uphold our discipline policies with our scholars, staff and families of SCP. It is essential to the role of DOSS to have a high level of patience and flexibility.

Primary Responsibilities:
Communication and Relationships:
  • Develops and manage an outstanding system of consistent communications with parents/guardians of all scholars enrolled at SCP
  • Communicates with all stakeholders involved including Dean of Students.
  • Collects data when appropriate to enhance school culture and performance.
Policies and Procedures:
  • Has clear understanding of SCP scholar expectations and discipline policies, and ability relay information to scholars and parents/guardians of scholars when appropriate.
  • Consistently implements, and enforces the school’s discipline policies and procedures.
  • Processes office referrals and maintains supports to Dean of Students as needed.
Professional Responsibilities:
  • Embody and advocate the mission, vision, and strategic direction of SCP
  • Adhere to the policies, standards, and school-wide responsibilities described in the school’s Employee Handbook.
  • Model the school’s values and set the standard for professional behavior.  
  • Deals immediately and successfully with scholar and family concerns.
  • Mantains specific data to uphold scholars’ discipline satus and communication between necessary stakeholders.
  • Remains flexible with other duties as assigned (i.e. substitute teaching, supervision roles, monitoring TRS/ISS, etc.).
SCP Culture:
  • Exhibits passion to work in an urban middle-high school environment.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to cultural adversity.
  • Possesses knowledge, or willingness to learn, about charter schools’ procedure and culture.
  • Problem solves between a variety of staff-scholar-guardian conflicts.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree completed.
  • Experience working in a middle or high school for minimum of 2 years.
