Job Description:
OPERATIONS DIRECTOR 

The Operations Director is responsible for managing all daily operations that take place in the district.  This leader will also provide all students with a physical learning environment that is safe, clean, attractive, pleasant and smoothly-functioning.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Prior experience as director or operations manager
  • Commitment to social justice and the mission of SLLIS
  • High comfort level in working in a diverse environment
  • Experience in a school district or charter school preferred   

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
School Operations
  • Each year, prepare the campuses for start-up/new school year by ordering furniture, equipment, and classroom supplies as well as ensure that school services (i.e., student food services, student transportation services) are lined up and ready for action.
  • Manage the school’s services by coordinating with service providers and overseeing deliveries
  • Serves as liaison with the contractor for the Before and Aftercare program
  • Manage maintenance of facilities including working with custodial personnel and third-party contracts or trash removal, recycling, security, and cleaning.
  • Oversee a program of preventive maintenance
  • Oversee the food service/dining program
  • Conduct all communication with contractual agencies such as transportation, food service, custodial and maintenance services.
  • Advises executive director of road hazards for decisions on school closing during inclement weather
  • Work with principals in establishing emergency evacuation procedures 
  • Provide oversight of the planning and execution of school special events, such as Family Orientation, Board meetings, Professional Development Days, etc.
  • Manage the school’s supply and asset inventory

Purchasing
  • Manage school purchasing process by placing orders with vendors, tracking delivery and maintaining inventory.
  • Maintain records of goods ordered and received
  • Prepares and maintains purchase orders and other expense records
  • Arranges for conferences and travel of administrators and staff; prepares related purchase order and payment requisitions
  • Collaborate with Executive Director in procurement activities including RFP’s (Request for Proposals)
Transportation
  • Coordinates and oversees the routing, scheduling and daily transportation services including general and special education and homeless students
  • Oversee the daily operations of the dispatch office.
  • In coordination with the bus company, plans the effective and efficient development of bus routes; monitors routes daily and makes necessary adjustments for overloads, lateness and related problems.
  • Resolve issues, concerns and questions regarding transportation services.
  • Receives and responds to inquiries concerning routing and other transportation questions; continuously surveys the existing transportation program for safety, service costs and areas in need of improvement.
  • Record and process field trip requests                                
  • Receives and responds to emergency calls
Leadership
  • Work with the other members of the leadership team to follow the strategic goals
  • Ensure safety committee meetings are held and tasks are assigned
  • Attend appropriate committee and staff meetings   
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
