Job Description:  Lutheran High School St Charles-Teacher Assistant
  • Work under the direct supervision of the LASE Learning Center Lead Teacher(s) to provide direct and indirect educational support for high school students with disabilities and special education needs.
  • Provide small group support for students in  Resource and/or Academic Lab classes (completion of  assignments, project planning,  organizational and study skills, and test preparation).
  • Provide administrative support and clerical assistance for Learning Center teachers (grade papers, make copies and perform any tasks assigned by the LASE Learning Center Teachers to support student learning.)  
  • Provide “push-in” support for students in general education classrooms (e.g. class within a class) under the guidance of the Learning Center Teacher (s), as assigned.
  • Substitute for the LASE teachers. 
Qualifications:
  • 60+ hours of college credit
  • Some experience with high school students, or college study in education or special education preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A degree and Missouri teaching certificate are not required but would be invaluable.
  • A fingerprint background check completed before employment
  • The ability to work well with high school students one-on-one or within small groups.
