About KCIA: 
Kansas City International Academy (KCIA) is a kindergarten through 8th grade charter school located in the Kansas City Missouri School District. KCIA's focus is creating a world class school with an international focus. Many of KCIA's students are members of families who have immigrated to Kansas City from more than 25 different countries. Approximately 60% of our students are English Language Learners, who speak over 15 different languages.  100% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. KCIA has an extensive, rigorous, and robust K-8 English Language Program. We have highly trained and experienced English language development teachers/specialists equipped to support our students’ language needs. Translators support newcomer students who need enriched language instruction.

About the Position:
A Paraprofessional at KCIA is responsible for providing hands-on academic and behavioral support to students under the direction of a certified teacher. Paraprofessionals may also assist certified teachers in preparing lessons or providing instruction to students in the classroom. 

Key Responsibilities:
Paraprofessionals assist teachers by performing a variety of tasks relating to the physical and instructional needs of the students in a classroom setting.  They assist in the implementation of instructional programs including self-help and behavior; assist students with basic academics (reading, language, and/or math) and behavior management; follow individual health plans (e.g. seizure activity, blood sugar monitoring) and assist with the personal care of students if needed (e.g. bathroom, eating, etc.).

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree preferred
• DESE approved paraprofessional test or 60 college credit hours
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
