Job Description:
School Nurse, Dr. Henry Givens Jr. Elementary

Salary Range - $29.56
Position Type - Full Time

2025-2026 School Year

Primary Objective: The school nurse is responsible for carrying out the district's health program, as defined by district policies and the Missouri Department of Health regulations.

Essential Functions:

• Performs skilled nursing procedures as necessary in a safe, competent and efficient manner
• Administers medications in a safe and therapeutic manner according to physicians’ orders and consistent with school policy and state laws and regulations
• Maintains student health records as prescribed by school policy and state laws and regulations
• Maintains strict confidentiality related to student and staff issues
• Uses effective written, verbal and nonverbal communication skills
• Collaborates with other school professionals, parents, and caregivers to meet the health, developmental and educational needs of students
• Is professional, caring, flexible, and enjoys working with children and their families
• Open to providing support to the Hudson Elementary School community
• Complies with all WGSD Board policies and procedures
• Is proactive, collaborative, and willing
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Must hold a current/valid RN license
• BSN preferred (from accredited Nursing School)
• Pediatric nursing experience is preferred
• Experience with children in a school setting is preferred
