Job Description:
The School District of Clayton is seeking a talented Elementary School Counselor for the 2025-2026 school year at Glenridge Elementary School. School counselors utilize leadership, advocacy, collaboration, and direct support to promote student growth, provide proactive and preventive services, and respond to identified student needs by implementing the comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic and personal/social development for all students. 
 
The successful candidate:
  • Implements the District’s approved counseling curriculum in assigned building(s), and acts as a resource person for the infusion of guidance learning activities into the curricula
  • Counsels small groups and individual students through the development of educational plans and by providing and participating in orientation programs for students and parents
  • Participates in building processes related to IEPs, 504s, Care Teams/Student Study Teams, and MTSS
  • Leads the referral process for IEPs and conducts student observations
  • Consults with teachers, staff, and parents regarding meeting the developmental needs of students by conducting faculty in-service programs and parent education programs
  • Manages the connections the school strives to make between general education and Special School District
  • Refers students and families to appropriate school and community resources such as school and/or community-based psychologists, school nurses, and administrators for educational assistance
  • Participates in, coordinates, and/or conducts activities which contribute to an effective school environment, such as interpreting test results and being a student advocate
  • Uses the program evaluation self-study to regularly evaluate and recommend revisions to the District’s counseling program
  • Pursues professional growth through post-graduate education, attendance at local and State staff development programs, and participation in professional organizations
  • Maintains and updates student records, and when appropriate, reviews with parents and teachers
Education:  Master’s Degree in Counseling required. 
Certification:  Missouri Counseling Certification is required.
Experience:  Counseling experience preferred.
