Summary of Job: Assists building principal in directing and coordinating educational, administrative, and counseling activities of secondary school.
Education and Experience:

Summary of Job: Assists building principal in directing and coordinating educational, administrative, and counseling activities of secondary school.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of Master's degree
- Teacher Certification
- Principal Certification, grades 7-8
- Minimum three years successful secondary classroom teaching experience
- Experience as a principal/assistant principal or other organizational leadership experience (Leadership in Curriculum, Instruction, Discipline, or Operations) is preferred
- Is a model and advocate for the sharing new knowledge, skills, and best practices to impact personal growth, the development of staff, and increasing student learning.
- Is an advocate for and model of professional and ethical behavior that builds capacity for professionalism throughout the building and the district.
- Expands and strengthens collaboration and partnerships with families, community members and key stakeholders to enhance the culture of learning throughout the district.
- Implements timely changes based on data to further improve the culture of the district related to student safety, positive relationships and increased levels of student learning.
- Ensures that the use of community resources is expanded to address learning challenges and needs resulting in increased student achievement.
- Assumes leadership in the direction of student discipline and behaviors.
- Assumes the major responsibility for disciplining students.
- Evaluates teachers as assigned by the building principal.
- Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness.
- Follows appropriate procedures in the disciplining of students with disabilities.
- Monitors student attendance and takes appropriate actions when circumstances indicate an unacceptable number of absences.
- Develops and coordinates educational programs through meetings with staff, review of teachers' activities, and issuance of directives.
- Confers with teachers, students, and parents concerning educational and behavioral problems in school.
- In cooperation with the High School Principal, directs preparation of class schedules, cumulative records, and attendance reports.
- Participates in the screening and selection of building teachers and staff as requested by the building principal.
- Walks about school building and property to monitor safety and security.
- Attends and supervises student activities and athletic competitions.
- Maintains confidentiality of information gained through the performance and location of the position.
- May be required to transport students in personal vehicle.
- Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
- Responsible for homebound instruction.
- Is able to build relationships with students, staff, parents and community members.
- Coordinates with building principal on BSIP, teacher PGP's.
- Is an active participant in DCI/PGC.
- Has an active role in building professional development.
- Collaborates and coordinates building mentors with new hires, with a focus on classroom management.
- Other duties as assigned.
