Primary Objective: We are seeking a highly skilled Facility Technician II with extensive experience in troubleshooting and maintaining light commercial HVAC systems. While HVAC responsibilities are the primary focus, this role also requires proficiency in general building maintenance tasks such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and other facility repairs. This position plays a critical role in maintaining safe, functional, and comfortable environments across all school facilities. The role reports directly to the Facilities Coordinator.

While HVAC responsibilities are the primary focus, this role also requires proficiency in general building maintenance tasks such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and other facility repairs. This position plays a critical role in maintaining safe, functional, and comfortable environments across all school facilities. The role reports directly to the Facilities Coordinator.
Essential Functions:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain light commercial HVAC systems, including rooftop units, split systems, boilers, chillers, cooling towers and ventilation equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on HVAC equipment to ensure efficiency and reliability
- Use diagnostic tools and Building Automation Systems (BAS) to monitor and fine-tune HVAC performance (Automated Logic experience preferred)
- Repair and maintain HVAC system components, including compressors, motors, thermostats, dampers, and control wiring
- Monitor, adjust, and optimize BAS settings for performance and energy savings
- Perform general building maintenance and repairs, including:
- Carpentry: Minor repairs to doors, walls, ceilings, cabinetry, and fixtures
- Electrical: Replace outlets, switches, ballasts, lighting, and minor electrical troubleshooting
- Plumbing: Repair faucets, toilets, valves, and basic piping
- Respond promptly to work orders and emergency maintenance issues
- Maintain documentation of maintenance and repair activities
- Request and manage materials, tools, and parts as needed
- Work collaboratively with contractors, vendors, and facilities staff
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Operations
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on HVAC service and troubleshooting experience in a light commercial setting (e.g., schools, office buildings)
- Proven ability to perform building maintenance tasks across carpentry, electrical, and plumbing disciplines
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) required; Automated Logic preferred
- Strong understanding of HVAC diagnostics and control systems
- Must be able to:
- Work safely at heights and in confined spaces
- Endure physical tasks including standing, kneeling, lifting (up to 100 lbs), and working in extreme temperatures
- Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Associate degree in HVAC/R preferred
- HVAC/R certification required
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required
- Additional technical certifications in electrical or plumbing are a plus
