Position Summary
The Spanish Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering high-quality instruction in Spanish language and culture. This role focuses on developing students’ proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, writing, and interacting in Spanish. The teacher plays a key role in promoting biliteracy and cultural understanding in a diverse learning environment.

The Spanish Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering high-quality instruction in Spanish language and culture. This role focuses on developing students’ proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, writing, and interacting in Spanish. The teacher plays a key role in promoting biliteracy and cultural understanding in a diverse learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging Spanish instruction aligned with state and local curriculum standards.
- Support students in developing academic language proficiency in all language domains: speaking, listening, reading, writing, and interaction.
- Plan and implement lessons that incorporate modeling, guided practice, and opportunities for independent language use.
- Provide clear language supports to ensure student comprehension and success.
- Assign meaningful homework and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and growth.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
- Support school-wide testing and assessments, including participation in WIDA initiatives.
- Participate in faculty meetings, conferences, and professional development activities.
- Manage classroom materials and inventory effectively.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education or related field
- Missouri State Certification in Secondary Education
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Commitment to educational equity and serving historically underrepresented students
- Professionalism and the ability to work effectively under pressure
- 3+ years of teaching experience in urban or underserved school settings
- Proven track record of improving academic outcomes for minority or low-income students
- Experience with data-driven instruction and classroom technology
- Familiarity with PowerSchool and/or WIDA frameworks
