MANDATORY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
TERMS: Extra-duty contract; $3,010 annual
EFFECTIVE: 2025-2026 school year

MANDATORY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid teaching certificate; four-year degree and/or DESE substitute certification required
- First-aid certification required
- Experience as a basketball coach preferred
- Assist in the coordination of the high school and middle school programs in the assigned sport or activity
- Use sound and acceptable coaching/teaching techniques in all phases of the program
- Organize safe and effective practice sessions
- Adhere to an efficient and technically sound conditioning and injury prevention and treatment program
- Adhere to the system for equipment accountability
- Establish a working rapport with, and is directly responsible to, the high school head coach
- Adhere to all district and school policies regarding the athletic/activities program
- Strive to build good sportsmanship among players/team members, coaches, and fans
- Model good sportsmanship and enforce sportsmanlike behavior among the players/team members/participants at all times
- Establish good public relations in the school and community
- Assist in coaching individual participants in the fundamental and advanced skills necessary to develop their full potential in the sport/activity involved
- Instill a positive attitude towards self, event, team, and sport on the part of individual players/participants
- Assist in communicating personal and program expectations to team /group and to individual players/members/participants
- Follow a firm, fair, and consistent discipline system for the team/group and for individual players/members/participants
- Follow proper procedures in handling discipline problems
- Cooperate with maintenance staff, transportation staff, and others who are involved in supporting the activities program
- Adhere to budget guidelines for the sport/activity
- Assist the head coach in working with the youth league to promote the program
- Attend clinics, workshops, and professional organizations as related to coaching area, as requested by the activities director and/or head coach
- Other duties as may be assigned
