Summary: Tech Director of a high school theater tech crew is a significant responsibility that involves overseeing all technical aspects of theatrical productions at the high school level. Key responsibilities for being an effective high school theater tech crew director are, collaborate with the Auditorium Manager, Drama Teacher, and play director. To supervise and guide the lighting, sound, prop and special effect student crews.

Key responsibilities for being an effective high school theater tech crew director are, collaborate with the Auditorium Manager, Drama Teacher, and play director. To supervise and guide the lighting, sound, prop and special effect student crews.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with and supervise theater students in regard to all technical aspects of high school theatrical productions and safety standards as follows:
- Strong foundation in technical theater. This includes knowledge of lighting, sound, props, rigging, and special effects.
- Role involves leading a team of students who may have varying levels of experience and expertise.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Encourage teamwork, communication, and skill development among your crew members.
- Develop a detailed production schedule that outlines all technical tasks leading up to and during performances.
- This schedule should include load-in and load-out times, technical rehearsals, and equipment checks.
- Stay organized to ensure everything runs smoothly.
- Effective communication is vital.
- Liaise with the production's director, actors, and other production staff to ensure everyone is on the same page regarding technical elements.
- Provide training and mentorship to crew members.
- Teach students how to operate equipment safely and effectively.
- Encourage ongoing learning and skill development.
- Coordinate with the Auditorium Manager for the maintenance and upkeep of all technical equipment.
- Regularly inspect and test equipment to ensure it's in working order.
- Establish and enforce safety protocols for your crew.
- Ensure that all crew members understand the importance of safety and provide them with appropriate safety gear and training.
- Work within the school's budget while meeting the technical needs of each production.
- Keep accurate records of expenditures and ensure that resources are allocated efficiently.
- Coordinate with Auditorium Manager to maintain detailed records of all technical elements, including equipment inventory, lighting plots, sound cues, and set designs. This documentation will be valuable for future productions and can help streamline the process.
