JOB SUMMARY
The Lower/Middle School Nurse provides direct nursing services to students as well as emergency care to students, visitors, faculty and staff members throughout the school year and during summer camps to maximize health and wellness in the school community. The Lower/Middle School Nurse independently manages the duties of the Health Office incollaboration with the Director of Student Services, Health Services team, Lower and Middle School Division Heads, Student Services team, faculty, staff, and parents. All dutiesare performed in accordance with school policies and procedures as well as state laws and regulations regarding nurse practice.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide direct professional nursing services, first aid, and illness care to students and other community members in accordance with professional standards, school
policy and procedures, and state and local mandates.
- Provide health services, health education, and counseling in an effective and positive manner to enhance the health and wellness of the school community.
- Provide medical care and services in response to the nursing assessment and according to physician prescribed medical care and treatment orders.
- Create and maintain documentation of all treatment and medical services provided to students through charting a daily log of visits, as well as accident and injury reports.
- Provide emergency care to visitors, faculty, and staff members. Complete accident/injury reports to refer injured employees to approved medical providers for appropriate medical treatment of work-related illness and injury.
- Respond to emergency medical situations, perform first aid as needed, coordinate with local emergency personnel and agencies as required.
- Maintain student immunization and other medical records. Follow confidentiality and privacy rules and regulations.
- Make appropriate assessments and referrals for suspected abuse and/or neglect as a mandated reporter.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and materials needed in the Health Office; develop and monitor procedures for maintaining adequate supplies in all school first aid kits.
- Utilize existing technology effectively in the performance of duties, particularly the use of school-based online nurse charting programs.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, and staff regarding medical treatment; follow follow confidentiality policies and regulations.
- Train and delegate teachers, administrators, and staff members to provide nursing care when the nurse is not available to provide it directly.
- Coordinate with local health agencies and medical treatment facilities as necessary.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and the Director of Campus Security to ensure all required annual medical training for faculty and staff are provided per insurance requirements and state law.
- Participate as an active member of the school community, representing health/wellness.
- Maintain contact with a professional nursing organization and utilize continuing education opportunities to enhance professional knowledge.
- Serve as the nurse for summer programs.
- Serves as a member of the student support committee for each division.
- Oversees allergy and dietary case management in conjunction with school dietician.
- Delegates and supervises nursing tasks to Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) in compliance with the MO Nurse Practice Act, NASN guidelines, and MICDS policies to ensure safe, effective and appropriate care for students
- Perform other health or school-related work in conjunction with the Director of Student Support Services and the Upper School Nurse.
- Complete other projects and responsibilities that may be added at the School's discretion.
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in State of Missouri
- BSN or equivalent nursing degree
- Current CPR/AED program completion
- Three years experience in pediatric/school/primary care setting
- Computer literacy and competency in the use of existing technology, particularly school nursing platforms(s), Google Drive/Mail, and student information systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with other faculty, staff, parents, and members of the community
