The Jr. Bill Store promotes the mission of SLUH by providing SLUH branded merchandise to families and friends of the school. Revenue from the store supports the mission of SLUH. The store functions as a business-learning laboratory for students who assist in the day to day operations and have opportunities to contribute to the store's strategic direction.
The Jr. Bill Store Manager is responsible for the day to day management of both the physical and online Jr. Bill Store. The Manager recruits, trains, and schedules volunteers to ensure that regular store hours and special events are fully staffed. The Manager is a member of the store's management team which includes alumni and friends with expertise in retail and is responsible for the strategic growth of the business. The Manager maintains and updates the online Jr. Bill Store experience. The Manager liaises with the SLUH Business office, produces reports, conducts inventory, purchases product, and ensures that the business of the retail operation is attended to directly or in cooperation with competent volunteer partners.
The Manager reports to the Vice President of Advancement. The position is full-time, with flexibility during the summer months, and predictable evening and weekend special events.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Grow the effectiveness of the store for the mission of SLUH, especially with respect to: revenue, volunteer engagement, and student connection.
  • Shop Management: staffing, register/cash management, supplies
  • Online Management: Merchandise & maintain site including product descriptions, collections, & banner messaging
  • Volunteer recruitment, training, scheduling, and management
  • Management and support of work grant and internship students
  • Inventory receipting/ pricing/markdowns / reorders
  • Month end sales reporting
  • Visual Merchandising
  • Online & Phone Order Fulfillment/Shipping and process oversight
  • Partner with Merchant in Product Strategy & Vendor Management
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Customer service

  • Knowledge of target consumer demographics and marketplace
  • Comfort with data analytics
  • Proficiency in digital systems & tools
  • Product and aesthetic sensibility
  • Ability to collaborate with a wide variety of partners on site and across time zones
  • Staffing events and engaging directly with customers at a variety of times and locations. Occasional evenings and weekends.
Essential Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience
  • Experience with fundamental business operations
  • Financial literacy
  • Retail experience preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 lbs
