Job Description:
The Kingston K-14 School District is looking for an outstanding individual to fill a teaching position for Grades 6-8 for the 2025-2026 school year.
 
Reports to:  Building Principal
 
The ideal candidate:  
  • must hold or have the ability to attain a valid Missouri teacher's certificate for Junior High,
  • demonstrates a high level of enthusiasm and energy,
  • is capable of working as part of a grade-level and building team, 
  • is willing to work hard to help increase academic achievement and students' physical fitness levels
  • willing to take on coaching responsibilities
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning 
  • Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superiors.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes and communicates clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects
  • Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Strives to implement through instruction and action the district's philosophy of education, curriculum, instructional goals, and objectives.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assesses the progress of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  • Attends faculty meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
  • Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
  • Provides for his or her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning.
  • Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by the building principal.
