School Nurse - Lindbergh High School
- Building Nurse, full time, 10 months
- Position to begin August, 2025
- Base Salary of $40,500, subject to education & experience
- Full benefits included

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other Health Services duties may be assigned.
- Advises teachers, counselors, and administrators of individual students with health concerns and/or needs, including preferential seating and modification of the educational program to meet the students’ needs.
- Encourages staff inquiries, observations, and referral of students regarding real or suspected health concerns. Follows-up on all such referrals.
- Assesses health needs of students (and staff, when necessary), provides treatment and/or first aid in accordance with district policy and the state Nursing Practice Act, and makes timely and appropriate referrals.
- Carries out state mandated responsibilities to report suspected cases of child abuse, drug abuse, or other instances when intervention may be indicated.
- Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records for each student.
- Assists parents in securing required immunizations and physical examinations.
- Serves as liaison between students, parents, other health care professionals, and teachers/administrators in regard to the student's health needs.
- Instructs and supervises health room assistants in responsibilities of that position, and with regard for accepted delegation procedures according to district policy, position statements from professional nursing organizations and the Nursing Practice Act.
- Completes health-related components of the Individual Education Program (IEP) when requested, and attends and participates in the IEP evaluation process when health concerns impact learning upon invitation.
- Provides mandated and state-recommended screenings as required (vision, hearing,). Screening may also be requested by staff if problems are suspected.
- Prepares and submits reports for the state or county Department of Health, the Superintendent, Asst Superintendents, Principals, and/or Lead Nurse, as requested.
- Maintains a Daily Log of students seen for health-related concerns.
- Maintains confidentiality for students and staff at all times.
- Cooperates with the attendance secretary in matters of student attendance
- and/or absence.
- Administers prescribed medications according to district policy and the Nursing Practice Act. Supervises and instructs health room assistants and staff who may be responsible for administration of such meds.
- Implements district policy and Department of Health guidelines regarding exclusion and readmission of students and staff with contagious and communicable diseases.
- Conducts informal health education for students and staff when appropriate.
- Conducts formal health education as requested by teachers or administrators, or as directed by the science/health curricula.
- Serves as a resource for district personnel, students, and parents in matters pertaining to health.
- Participates in in-service training programs and stays current in skills and health care changes by attending professional meetings, workshops, and conferences. This may also include participation in continuing education or college credit courses.
- Maintains adequate health room supplies needed to administer the health program.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive school health program.
- Attends faculty meetings as needed.
- Provides instruction, education, and support for students to help them take responsibility for any health-related conditions; enabling them to provide as much self-care as is feasible and age-appropriate.
- Serves in buildings other than the one assigned, if necessary.
- Assists in monitoring safety and health issues in the environment.
