OVERVIEW:
Our Upper Elementary Studio Teacher will teach in a collaborative, innovative, personalized learning model for 3rd and 4th grade students combined. Their essential responsibility is to develop creative learning opportunities for students’ academic, social-emotional, and spiritual growth while being a champion for St. John's unique personalized learning model, which prioritizes the teacher as a mentor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work collaboratively with staff and student learners to build authentic personalized learning experiences that encourage students’ whole-person growth: academically, socially, interpersonally, and spiritually.
  • Model and implement research-based effective instructional strategies for personalized learning.
  • Use data to identify levels of student performance and development areas on an individual and group level.
  • Utilize technology-based systems for curriculum, assessment, and data.
  • Consistently evaluate students’ academic and social-emotional needs and proactively plan growth opportunities for individual students and the classroom as a whole.
  • Create a fun, safe, and nurturing environment of inquiry, respect, and collaboration.
  • Model real-life success skills like communication, self-awareness, and decision-making.
  • Strive for excellent and effective collaboration with other teachers and leadership; works effectively and cooperatively with others in a team environment.
  • Assist in planning and implementing school programs, initiatives, and other activities.
  • Actively develop positive parent-teacher relationships and promote parent-teacher partnerships.
  • Support the partnership of St. John and Pathfinder Church by regularly participating in church and staff events and combined professional development opportunities.
  • Creates structure in the classroom that supports a flexible learning environment.
  • Participate as needed in activities outside typical school hours; e.g., parent-teacher conferences and special school events committees.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Possess strong Christian values and a desire to share God’s love with children.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Current state teaching certification in elementary and/or special education.
  • Ability to evaluate students’ needs through data interpretation, observation, and personal interaction. 
  • Prior experience in a personalized learning environment and/or experience utilizing standards-based grading, preferred.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate with empathy, clarity, and respect with students, parents, coworkers, and leaders.  

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Mobility: The role requires frequent movement around the school campus, including walking and standing for extended periods during the school day. 
  • Lifting & Physical Activity: You may occasionally be required to lift or move objects up to 25 pounds, as well as bend, stoop, and reach while interacting with students and handling materials. 
  • Classroom & Outdoor Interaction: The position involves both indoor and outdoor work, including participation in student activities and events that may require flexibility and stamina. 
  • Visual and Fine Motor Skills: The role requires good visual acuity for tasks such as reading, writing, and using computer systems, as well as fine motor skills for everyday office and classroom activities.

WORK SCHEDULE:
10-month, full-time work schedule Monday through Friday following the 2025-2026 school calendar.
