Job Description:

The Soulard School, a small charter elementary school in St. Louis City, is seeking a part-time afternoon Paraprofessional to join our school community for the remainder of the 2024-25 school year.

Major Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one behavior and academic support for elementary students with special needs 
  • Collaborate with Special Education Director, special education teachers, classroom teachers and other staff to ensure that students make progress toward academic, behavioral and social goals as established in an IEP
  • Collect data and follow protocols for students as directed by the Special Education Director 
  • Maintain and support organization of instructional tools and student materials
  • Adhere to programming and any programming changes with fidelity
  • Assist in the supervision of children during lunch and recess
  • Contribute to creating a positive educational climate for students to learn in
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with families, as well as strong communication between home and school
  • Develop positive relationships with colleagues and peers
Education and Experience 
  • Passing score on Paraprofessional Assessment test; OR documentation of 60+ hours of college credit at an accredited college or university required.  Missouri substitute teacher certification would suffice
  • College degree and/or working toward degree in special education, education or related field preferred
  • Experience with students on the autism spectrum preferred

General Pay and Contract Provisions
  • This is an hourly position for the remainder of the school year (March - May 2025) with the potential to continue for the 2025-26 school year. 
  • This position is 15-20 hours a week in the afternoon (12-3:30).
