St. Louis Voices Academy of Media Arts is an innovative charter public school serving students and families within St. Louis City. The school began with kindergarten through first grade and will add one grade per year, ultimately serving grades K–5. St. Louis Voices Academy emphasizes media and storytelling, whole-child development, real-world inquiry, and progressive learner autonomy as foundational design elements supporting its mission.

Role Overview
Under the guidance of a certified teacher and school leadership, paraprofessionals support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. This includes working directly with students with disabilities, providing instructional support, and assisting in classroom management to create an inclusive and effective learning environment.

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities
Student Support & Instructional Assistance
- Provide one-on-one or small group academic support to reinforce learning.
- Modify and adapt instruction for students with disabilities as directed by the teacher.
- Support students in independent study, enrichment work, and remediation as assigned.
- Assist with self-care tasks and mobility needs (if applicable).
- Implement accommodations outlined in students’ IEPs/504 Plans.
- Assist in classroom management and supervision to create a safe, positive learning environment.
- Support teachers with preparing materials, setting up equipment, and maintaining an organized classroom.
- Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other school activities.
- Uphold and model the school’s core values in interactions with students, families, and colleagues.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff to support student success.
- Actively engage in professional development and implement feedback for continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate a commitment to restorative justice and inclusive excellence.
- Support a school culture that fosters respect, trust, and a commitment to student growth.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership.
- A minimum of 60 college credits or DESE-approved alternative; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience working with K-12 students in an urban school setting (1-2 years preferred).
- Commitment to educational equity and understanding of opportunity gaps.
- Ability to build strong, supportive relationships with students and families.
- Adaptability, problem-solving skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
