Director of Social Studies/CTE
2025-2026 School Year

Position Summary:
Coordinates the planning, development, professional development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum and instructional practices for K-12 students as well as provide leadership and coordination to create an aligned and articulated instructional program for Social Studies and Career Technical Education (CTE).  Responsible for overseeing, monitoring, and maintaining plans and budgets for federal (Perkins) and state (CTE Base and Performance) level grants supporting Career and Technical Education as well as for Social Studies K-12.

Qualifications:
            Education/Certification:
  • Requires valid Missouri teaching certification 
  • Social science certification preferred
  • Advanced degree required (Masters degree or above)
            Experience
  • Minimum of three years as a classroom teacher
  • Experience serving as a content area chair, coordinator or other leadership position preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the review, development and revision of all previously listed educational programs and related curriculum documents and materials, including but not limited to curriculum guides.
  • Work cooperatively with other directors, coordinators, building administrators to develop and supervise instructional programming.
  • Plans, improves and oversees district curriculum and curriculum-based assessments in appropriate curricular areas.
  • Involve instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet student learning needs.
  • Develop and conduct or arrange for professional development sessions, including sessions on delivery of instruction, enriched learning in classroom settings and new instructional practices in social studies
  • Design, monitor, and coordinate all Career and Technical Education programs ensuring compliance with all federal and state laws and standards.
  • Conducts Comprehensive Local Needs Assessments, Common Criteria and Quality Indicator (CCQI) report, 180 Day Graduate Follow-Up surveys, Career and Technical Education reporting for June Core Data submission, and other compliance documentation related to Career and Technical Education programs.
  • Supervise and lead curriculum development to assure course quality and the alignment of courses with academic requirements for high school graduation, dual enrollment, and/or industry-based certifications and manages specific dual enrollment programs that are career and technical oriented.
  • Creates and submits annual plans and applications for CTE funding, develops state and federal budgets, tracks and monitors program expenditures, and requests reimbursements
  • Coordinates virtual programming. Serves as district Missouri Course Access Program (MOCAP) liaison, develops policies and procedures for implementation. 
  • Other duties may be assigned.
