Reports to:  Building Principal and Associate Superintendent
 
Education and Experience:  
  • Masters Degree in Education/Counseling
  • Full Missouri Certification in Counseling
Sample Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains confidentiality of information gained through the performance and location of the position.
  • Understands and implements the Missouri Model Guidance Curriculum
  • Schedules student classes for the purpose of securing appropriate placement and meeting their graduation and college eligibility requirements.
  • Collects, organizes, and analyzes information about individuals through records, tests, interviews, and professional sources, to appraise their interests, aptitudes, abilities, and personality characteristics for vocational and educational planning.
  • Compiles and studies occupational,educational, and economic information to aid students in making and carrying out vocational and educational objectives.
  • Works with counseling department to develop a variety of special programs (e.g. college, career, and life activities) for the purpose of providing information to assist students in the successful transition between grades.
  • Identifies students who are at-risk and conducts individual and/or small group counseling and crisis counseling sessions based on specific needs of students such as difficulties with relationships, personal concerns, and/or academic concerns.
  • Assists students and their parents to understand and overcome social and emotional concerns.
  • Participates in teacher support activities including recommending alternative/intervention strategies, developing intervention strategies, implementing intervention strategies, screening students for possible referral for evaluation, etc.
  • Consults with parents, educators, and community agencies to help students.
  • Responds to student needs based on parent and/or professional staff requests for counseling and crisis intervention.
  • Conducts parent involvement activities and after school counseling activities.
  • Adheres to all board and state regulations and policies.
  • Administers interest, aptitude, and achievement instruments.
  • Assumes responsibility for group testing as directed by the administration.
  • Other duties as assigned.
This position is for the 2025-2026 school year.
