General Summary: To facilitate and coordinate educational instruction for staff and students which will foster and accelerate the students’ intellectual, physical, social, and career development in accordance with district policies and procedures. Under the direction of the assistant superintendent, the principal is responsible for carrying out a variety of administrative and supervisory responsibilities. Primary responsibilities will be maintaining a positive learning environment, communicating and enforcing school goals and policies, fostering teamwork among students and staff, and complying with Board established rules, regulations, and policies.

Essential Functions
- Facilitating the appropriate implementation of special education in the building
- Ensuring that the school’s programs and practices are in agreement with Board Policy
- Leading in the selection of new teaching staff and classified staff within the building Leading the school improvement process
- Responsibility for student discipline including implementing practices designed to reduce disciplinary referrals
- Responsibility for maintaining high student attendance
- Ensuring the safe and appropriate operation of the school
- Interacting with district and building personnel to address transportation, food service, housekeeping and other services required for the smooth operation of the building
- Responsibility for the development of the building budget
- Responsibility for inventory control
- Leading the evaluation of building faculty and staff
- Leading and partnering with the Academic Leader with the implementation of the district curriculum
- Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and responding to assessment and instructional data
Qualifications
- Education Level - Bachelor's degree from an approved institution with a major in administration, curriculum, or the accepted equivalent required.
- Experience desired - 3-5 years of successful teaching experience, Administrative experience preferred
- Certification or Licensure - Valid Missouri Administration certificate
- Other requirements – Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal relationship skills. Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education. Excellent organizational skills, oral and written skills, time management, and telephone skills. Computer knowledge and assistive technology.
