Director of Safety and Security
The Francis Howell School District is seeking a Director of Safety and Security to serve as a part of the Senior leadership team. The Director of Safety and Security will develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive safety and security protocols district-wide. The Director will collaborate with law enforcement, emergency responders, and other external partners to ensure preparedness and rapid response to potential threats. Responsibilities will include conducting regular risk assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities, implement improvements, lead safety training with staff, students and families, and oversee compliance with all local, state and federal safety regulations.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement, management, public policy or related field is required
  • Five (5) years of experience in a supervisory role within the fields of security, community-based safety, law enforcement or education
  • Experience with emergency critical incidents and community safety infrastructure in a large complex organization
  • Technical expertise of familiarity with relevant school safety tools and systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Must be highly organized, motivated and able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to problem solve, use good judgment, think critically and communicate effectively
  • Requires leadership, creativity and initiative
  • Highly developed analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills essential
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, colleagues, students and community.
  • Must have strong professional integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Must be able to effectively use general office hardware and computer software.
  • Must be able to remain calm while responding during emergencies
  • Strong personal integrity
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
