Our ideal candidate is committed to shaping the district's narrative and ensuring effective, transparent, and consistent communication with students, parents, staff, community stakeholders, and the media. The ideal candidate will have experience in public relations, strategic communication planning, and a deep understanding of the educational landscape. A Master's degree in a related field or Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) is preferred.

Raymore-Peculiar School District is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Strategic Communications Officer to join our team on July 1, 2025! Key Responsibilities:
- Provides strategic counsel to district leaders offering communication insights to inform decision-making and ensure unified messaging.
- Serves as the primary point of contact and district voice on issues facing the district.
- Maintains and promotes the district’s brand identity, emphasizing its values and strengths across all platforms.
- Promotes the district’s programs, achievements, and events and shares compelling stories about students, educators, and the district’s impact, highlighting achievements and fostering community pride.
- Navigates challenges with clear, timely, and transparent messaging to maintain trust.
- Creates engaging content for a wide range of platforms, from newsletters, speeches, and videos to social media content to inform the public, document activities and issues, and meet compliance requirements.
- Builds strong relationships with local media, crafts press releases, and manages press inquiries to amplify the district’s voice.
- Uses social media platforms, websites, and other digital tools to connect with stakeholders and promote the district’s mission.
- Plans and executes campaigns, events, and initiatives that inspire and connect with stakeholders.
- Supports district-wide event planning and management efforts to ensure smooth operations and adequate communication coverage.
- Leads district outreach efforts, including the planning and execution of community meetings, public forums, and events.
- Collaborates with parent groups, local organizations, and community leaders to enhance relationships and support the district’s initiatives.
- Represents the district at local, state, and national functions.
- Serves as a liaison with the cities of Raymore and Peculiar as well as the associated Chambers of Commerce including attendance at events promoting the district.
- Provides strategic leadership to the Raymore-Peculiar Education Foundation in the areas of messaging, branding, and even promotion.
- Coordinates recognitions of students and staff at Board of Education meetings to ensure a smooth recognition process.
- Tracks communications and other evaluation measures to assist with the department’s continuous improvement efforts.
- Ensures accuracy and adherence to the district’s standards in all messaging.
- Salary schedule placement on Grade G of the Administrative Salary Schedule.
