Job Description:
The Northwest R-I School District is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Gifted Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.   All applicants must apply through the district website https://northwestr1.tedk12.com/hire/index.aspx
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional duties may be assigned.

1. Creates, develops and implements lesson plans and designs or selects instructional materials based upon district approved curriculum.
2. Supports the intellectual, social, and affective development of students.
3. Differentiates instruction to meet the needs of students.
4. Assists in the referral, screening, assessment, and identification of gifted students.
5. Works in collaboration with general education teachers.
6. Assists teachers in meeting the needs of gifted students.
7. Communicates with parents to provide information on student progress and learning activities.
8. Encourages student leadership, initiative, responsibility, and service.
9. Uses effective classroom management and fosters positive learning environment and relationships among students.
10. Participates in professional development activities and district, curriculum, grade level, departmental, or school meetings and activities.
11. Collaborates with parents and other professionals to provide effective programming for students.
12. Serves on district gifted steering committee.

       Performs department-level duties as assigned by Gifted Coordinator.
 
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

1. State certification in gifted education

Salary is based on the Certified Salary Schedule, dependent on relevant education & experience.
