The Track and Field Pole Vault Coach will direct and lead all aspects of the pole vaulters at St. Louis University High.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Partners with the Track and Field Head Coach to execute a mission and vision for the development of student-athletes through their participation in pole vault
- Assists the Track and Field Head Coach in providing performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
- Executes strategies for engaging student-athletes in mind, body, and spirit in accord with the Athletic Mission Statement and Ignatian values
- Sets lineup for meets in collaboration with other coaches in the track and field program
- Provides instruction to team members aimed at skill development and growth over the season
- Promotes sportsmanship among coaches and student-athletes throughout all levels of the program
- Attends all required coaches meetings
- Engages with the Track and Field Head Coach regarding the academic status of the members of the pole vault squad
- Complies with the Metro Catholic Conference and MSHSAA guidelines
- Partners with medical staff to prioritize the health of the student-athletes on the pole vault squad
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Thorough understanding of the sport of track and field - specifically pole vaulting - and possesses strategies on how to communicate and convey that understanding to the student-athletes in all levels of the program
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and managerial skills
- Ability to appropriately communicate with student athletes, parents and coaches
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Google Suite or related software
- Bachelor's degree
- Pole Vault coaching experience is preferred
- Prolonged periods standing and moving during practices, meets and other competitions
- Must be able to watch and analyze video of pole vaulters
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time
