Title: Technology Director
Reports to: Superintendent of Schools 
Classification: Non-Certified
FLSA Status: Exempt
Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education’s policy on the Evaluation of Professional Staff.
Terms of Employment and compensation: Salary, work year, vacation, and benefits to be established by the Lexington R-V Board of Education.
JOB SUMMARY:  To coordinate and oversee the technology program of the district and to assist district personnel in educating students through the use of computers and other means of technology.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Additional duties may be assigned.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the computer education program throughout the district.
  • Cooperate with teachers and administrators to determine use of technology for instruction in the district.
  • Recommend the purchase of technological materials for implementation and improvement of the district.
  • Coordinate the distribution of hardware and software in the school buildings.
  • Maintain an inventory of computer equipment and catalog software in the district.
  • Provide for staff development in the use of technology as an instructional tool.
  • Work with curriculum committees to develop or procure instructional materials to meet goals and objectives.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding the program to the superintendent.
  • Assist personnel with installation and operation of hardware and software.
  • Develop and maintain a budget for hardware, software, repairs, and supplies.
  • Complete, submit, and administer Video and Technology grants.
  • Provide leadership for the planning and development of a short term and a long range district technology plan.
  • Promote the technology program throughout the district and provide information to patrons.
  • Work closely with the business community in coordinating the use of modern technology throughout the community.
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
  • Maintain district network systems and coordinates daily/weekly back ups.
  • Completes routine preventative maintenance and repairs.

  • The Technology Director shall have completed a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • The Technology Director must have a high level of expertise with computers and in other areas of modern technology as well as meet any other requirement as may be deemed necessary by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Lexington R-V Board of Education.
  • The employee will complete a satisfactory criminal/abuse and neglect background check in accordance with state law and Board policy

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stoop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see, and use repetitive motions.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as reading handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.  Duties are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
