Job Title: Dean of Academics

Job Overview: The Dean of Academics at Atlas Elementary will play a critical leadership role in supporting and enhancing both literacy and math instruction across the school. This position provides instructional leadership, coaching, and data-driven support to teachers in literacy and math. The Dean of Academics will work closely with teachers, support staff, and school leaders to ensure curriculum fidelity, effective teaching strategies, and a focus on student growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Leadership and Coaching:
  • Provide coaching to teachers in literacy and math, including classroom observations, and feedback sessions.
  • Co-teach lessons with teachers, modeling effective instructional practices, and providing real time feedback as needed. 
  • Conduct regular unit unpacking and lesson internalization sessions to enhance content knowledge and improve instructional quality while supporting the integration of instructional best practices..
  • Collaborate with teachers to refine and strengthen literacy and math curricula.
  • Lead professional development sessions based on the needs of the team.
Assessment and Data Analysis:
  • Oversee and analyze student performance data in literacy and math to identify trends, guide instructional improvements, and tailor interventions.
  • Lead teachers in using data to inform instruction, track progress, and set goals for student achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to review report card content and ensure accurate and constructive feedback for student progress.
Intervention and Support:
  • Implement targeted literacy and math intervention plans, delivering one-on-one and small-group support for students with identified needs.
  • Regularly assess the progress of students receiving intervention and adjust instructional approaches as needed to maximize growth.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work with school leadership, teachers, and other stakeholders to align academic goals with school-wide objectives.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding academic progress, intervention strategies, and how they can support learning at home.
  • Foster a collaborative, positive, and growth-oriented environment within the literacy and math teams.

Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Education, Literacy, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification and 5+ years of experience in literacy or math instruction, with demonstrated experience coaching teachers.
  • Strong understanding of elementary literacy and math curricula, instructional strategies, and intervention practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
  • Leadership experience and commitment to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
