Education and Experience:
- Minimum requirement of 60 hours of college, para assessment or 20 hour substitute training
- Knowledge of school and classroom rules, procedures and practices
- Ability to interpret and establish appropriate rules, methods and techniques in maintaining a disciplined academic environment
- Strong interpersonal skills, technology skills and patience
- Experience working with students and knowledge of conflict resolution techniques is strongly encouraged
- Knowledge and experience with Google Suite and other computer applications, preferred
- Experience with and/or knowledge and understanding of best practices in instruction, preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Maintains confidentiality of information gained through the performance and location of the position
- Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids
- Creates learning materials geared to student’s ability and interest
- Presents subject matter to students, utilizing variety of methods and techniques
- May prepare, administer, and grade examinations as directed by the teacher
- Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts
- Works closely with all teacher(s) for the success of the students
- Maintains discipline
- May confer with parents on progress of students as directed by the supervisor
- Supervises students during class and learning activities, as assigned
- Work with students and or other staff members during student reflection period on issues such as behavior management and the prevention of undesirable behaviors that resulted in student being assigned to ICE (Intensive Character Education)
- Monitor all assignments; provide encouragement and feedback to students, monitor tests, computer work and provide instructional assistance as appropriate.
